Our tutors are hand-picked from the top 0.1% achievers in the state (quite literally!). We specialise in helping students like you reliably attain Band 6 HSC English results, and even excel beyond.
Helping you excel in all levels of HSC English is our bread and butter. We specialise in English and English alone. Our programs are strategically crafted from the ground up to effectively impart the exact knowledge and skills you need for this subject’s unique demands.
Simply put, our tutors are the best in the state. All of our programs involve personalised attention from a state ranking mentor who has attained at least a Top 20 result in NSW. Beyond their initial qualifications, our tutors are hand-picked for their strong communication skills and willingness to go “the extra mile” for their students.
We’ve been there ourselves and have since taken students just like you to scoring those elusive top marks. There are tangible and replicable strategies behind our success. We’re incredibly keen to impart these secrets and to help you dispel the uncertainty surrounding English!
A solid start! But consider refocussing your expression to communicate the notion that yearning for an alternative way of being may be actualised by connection with another person – rather than desire itself.
Perhaps further clarify – intimacy of what kind? Many are explored through the film eg. emotional, intellectual, sexual.
It would be pertinent to contextualise here how Bob’s wife sends him a series of swatches, with the difference between shades barely discernible – to emphasise how the satire is operating.
With each successive context link, try to go further in offering more specific/diverse detail, rather than relying too heavily on the umbrella acknowledgment of “capitalism”.
Or even “symbolises” just to slip in that extra technique.
We will guide you through the process of iterating efficiently toward a 20/20 standard (as far as you’ll let us take you!) with timely, thorough, and actionable feedback. You will also have access to our proprietary AI feedback tool trained on state ranking frameworks to further supercharge this process.
We’ve invested in the in-house development of the best technologies and resources to give you a competitive edge at school, including a personalised learning portal that allows you to browse a gold mine of state ranking notes and exemplar essays from anywhere.
All of our programs without exception (individual or group) contain personalised feedback and face-to-face time with a state ranking academic. You won’t find a team more dedicated than us!
Since working with Grace, my confidence with English has significantly improved and I find myself writing with greater proficiency and ease. I really appreciate her detailed and thoughtful feedback for both essay and creative writing.
Opus English tremendously boosted not only my marks in English but also my overall confidence in the subject. After a disappointing set of preliminary results I came to Jessica seeking a more structured approach to English hoping to drastically improve. Aided by Jessica’s Essay Writing Masterclass and the dedicated guidance of my tutor, I was able to develop a passion and enjoyment for English supported by a steady rise in my marks. This all culminated in me achieving a very pleasing English Advanced mark in my HSC all thanks to Opus and my tutor.
In year 10, after countless hours poured into the subject and my best efforts, I was ranked 100th in Sydney Boys which was incredibly demoralising. From there I sought help from Jess and the tutors at Opus knowing I had no more time to waste. The personalised lessons, insanely detailed script marking and their abundant resources transformed my writing and confidence. I earnt the most improved English award in year 11 finishing as tied dux of English in year 12 with a 96 Adv mark and 99.80 ATAR, and I couldn't be happier.
After years of feeling confident in English, the HSC hit me as a bit of a shock. It’s a big jump from the junior years, and the expectations can be nebulous. Sydney really helped me grasp what writing essays was all about. This shift in how I looked at English is what carried me to achieving my goal of a high band 6/e4 in both Advanced and Extension. Sydney was amazing, so many thanks to her and the Opus team behind the scene.

We understand that time is incredibly precious during your final years of high school. This program is optimised for engaging and collaborative online learning - with a bespoke resource hub containing state ranking notes & 20/20 exemplars you can access from anywhere!
Our Year 10 & 11 group classes are delivered in-person at our partner centre Zhang's HSC which has locations in suburbs such as Chatswood and CBD.
Yes we do!
We primarily accept senior students from Years 10-12 into our online weekly private tutoring program, The Accelerator, which is the most comprehensive form of support we provide.
We also offer group classes delivered in-person for Year 10 (starting T4 2025) and Year 11 (starting T1 2026) for those who prefer face-to-face learning in a collaborative environment.
For junior high school students in Years 7-9, our skills-based Essay Writing Masterclass and Creative Writing Masterclass (learn more here) would be invaluable to building a strong foundation as a bridge into our senior programs.
Beyond this, if you're interested in reaching out for a student in Years 7-9 for either weekly lessons or small-group classes, we'd still love to hear from you! Please get in touch with your enquiry at hello@opusenglish.com.
Short answer: yes, absolutely!
We offer a two week trial for all of our group class programs. This means that if you decide the program is not for you after the trial period, you can walk away completely risk free.
For our weekly private tutoring program, we also offer the opportunity to trial before committing to the term. This trial is a chance for you to match with your state ranking mentor and get a taster of every single component of the program first, so that you can make a fully informed decision about whether or not to carry on.

Unfortunately, not.
See specific payment information about each of our programs below.
The Accelerator (weekly private tutoring): After the initial trial fee, we only accept payment by the term. This upfront commission allows us to focus on tailoring your personalised program, teaching and curating material… less time spent emailing and invoicing. Most importantly, an upfront term payment allows you to secure a place with our in-demand tutors as we have a very limited number of slots year-round.
Group Classes: Our group classes are delivered in-person at Zhang's HSC centres in CBD/Chatswood. After paying a non-refundable $80 administrative fee, you'll be able to trial 2 weeks of the program. Following this, we ask for term payment upfront to secure your spot in the class as capacity is limited (12 max).
